Responsibilities

This Committee shall :

 1.         Promote leisure activities and facilities which shall include the maintenance of public recreation grounds, sports fields, open spaces, footpaths and similar areas which are the responsibility of this Council.

2.         Consider applications for grant aid in respect of sports and leisure activities provided that the total of such grants does not exceed the budgeted figure for the year in question.

3.         Set the scale of charges for the use of the Council's facilities and to review these charges on a regular basis.

4.         To consider all applications for licences or easements concerning the Council's amenities and for their granting and renewal.

5.         To be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of any buildings for which the Council is ultimately accountable.

6.         To keep under review the condition and well being of the Council's facilities.

7.         Any matters relating to the acquisition or disposal of land or rights over land shall be dealt with by Finance, Policy and Resources Committee. If called upon by the latter, this Committee shall submit it's recommendations, but shall not be directly involved in any negotiations.

 All the powers and duties of the Council referred to this Committee shall stand delegated to this Committee.
